Essential oils

The origin

What is aromatherapy?

Classic aromatherapy was used hundreds of years ago in various cultures. At that time, it was recognized that fragrances can have different effects on the body and the psyche.

Today, aromatherapy still uses essential oils extracted from flowers, leaves, fruits, roots or the bark of plants. Various methods are used to extract the volatile fragrances from the plants and bind them to an oil to preserve them.

Harnessing the power of nature with aromatherapy

Essential oils are a true treasure of nature. At Casida, we work with great care and attention to detail to harness the power of plants for human use. Influenced by fragrances

Fragrances reach the limbic system in the brain directly via the nose and olfactory cells. The limbic system is the seat of emotions, which generates a suitable feeling for every incoming scent information. Depending on the type of smell, a wide variety of emotions can arise - joy, fear, well-being, relaxation. This happens without us being able to consciously influence it. Memories are awakened. For example, the scent of cinnamon reminds us of Christmas and spruce needle of a walk in the forest - with all the associated emotions.

POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS

The use of essential oils

Essential oils can be used wonderfully in a fragrance lamp or aroma diffuser. To do this, add around 4 to 8 drops of essential oil to a little water and diffuse in the fragrance lamp or diffuser using modern ultrasonic technology. Choose different oils to fill the room with an activating, relaxing, calming, concentration-enhancing or optimistic atmosphere.

The external use of essential oils in aromatherapy is also very popular. Mix a few drops of pure natural essential oil with a carrier oil, for example almond oil or wild rose oil, for a customized body care oil or massage oil - for a calming or stimulating effect.

Aromatherapy FAQs

Scent therapy with essential oils is part of herbal medicine. It makes use of the powerful, natural essences of plants to promote holistic health and well-being. Essential oils have the same effect on the body and mind, which is why aromatherapy can be used to treat both physical and mental complaints.

Aromatherapy supports health in a natural way

Aromatherapy is a useful addition to conventional medicine. It is based on centuries of experience and knowledge about the effects of plants and parts of plants. This form of therapy can help to balance the soul and alleviate physical complaints. Fragrance therapy is also easy to implement, as the active ingredients of natural essential oils are released as soon as you smell them.

Natural essential oils unfold their effect, for example, through:

  • Direct inhalation or inhalation with hot water
  • Nebulizing in the room using an aroma diffuser, room spray or fragrance lamp
  • Adding to cosmetics such as hand cream or liquid soap
  • Add to household cleaning products (e.g. as a bath additive)
  • Massage (use a massage lotion or carrier oil as a base and apply to the affected area)
  • Apply to aroma jewelry (e.g. from Aromawelt.de)

Just a few drops of the aroma oils we sell will surround you with a wonderful fragrance and conjure up a wonderful atmosphere.

In the Casida guide you will find even more suggestions on how you can easily carry out aromatherapy at home.

Fields of application of aromatherapy with pure natural essential oils

The old adage that there is an herb for every disease is also confirmed in aromatherapy. Thanks to the great diversity of the plant world, there is a suitable plant essence in the form of an essential oil that can bring relief to a wide range of ailments.

Examples include

  • Nervousness, sleep disorders, high blood pressure (lavender, Swiss stone pine)
  • Depressive moods, anxiety (orange oil, lemon oil)
  • Wound healing, natural disinfection (tea tree oil)
  • Digestive problems (lemongrass oil)
  • Headaches (peppermint oil)
  • Skin problems, rheumatism, arthritis (frankincense oil)
  • Colds (eucalyptus oil, thyme oil)

The list of possible applications is almost endless and is described further in the Casida guide texts.

Marguerite Maury (1895 - 1968) is considered the pioneer of the "English school" of aromatherapy. Her student Danièle Ryman is now one of the world's leading aromatherapists and authors.

Eliane Zimmermann, born in South America in 1959 and now living in Germany, coined the terms "aroma practice" and "aroma practitioner". She is widely known as an aroma expert thanks to her numerous publications.
