Magnesium glycinate or magnesium bisglycinate is an organic magnesium compound (the magnesium is bound to the amino acid glycine). The amino acid chelate complex protects the mucous membranes in the digestive tract and magnesium glycinate is therefore considered to be particularly well tolerated. It is also highly bioavailable, as it does not have to compete with other minerals for the same absorption pathways, but is instead evaluated by the body as an amino acid and is therefore much better absorbed.
