The Lymphatic System

Lymphatic fluid, also known as lymph for short, is a watery to milky-cloudy fluid that flows in the body's lymphatic vessels. Lymph has an excretory function and plays a central role in tissue drainage by removing excess fluid. If lymph flow is disrupted, swelling in the tissue and even lymphedema occurs.

Lymph nodes are sometimes removed in cancer treatments. For people without lymph nodes, it is particularly important to stimulate lymph flow.

The Effects of a Massage

Rubbing and touching and manipulating tissue structures with the hands are among the oldest healing methods. Most people have already experienced the soothing or healing effects of a massage.

Massages not only have a positive effect on the body, but also on the psyche. Their effect extends from the treated area of the body through the entire organism to the vegetative-psychological level. When should a massage not be performed?

Not suitable for children under 12 years of age or pregnant women.

Do not use in cases of acute thrombosis or vascular occlusion, infections, tumors in the area of the body to be treated, or severe heart failure.

Avoid direct contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
