The flowers are harvested in the early morning hours when they contain the highest concentration of essential oil to ensure the best possible quality. The production process for jasmine oil is complex and usually involves steam distillation. About 1000 kilograms of flowers are required to produce just one liter of jasmine oil, making it a particularly precious essential oil. Jasmine oil is very popular in the perfume industry due to its delicate, floral scent and is frequently used in fragrance compositions. It can also be used in skin care to enhance general well-being, as the scent is often perceived as pleasant and calming.
