Bergamot oil is a popular ingredient in aromatherapy and is often used to scent living spaces and wellness areas. Its fresh, slightly fruity citrus aroma with a subtle spicy note creates a pleasant atmosphere. In fragrance blends, it harmonizes particularly well with other essential oils, such as bergamot. B. Bergamot essential oil is extracted from the peel of the bergamot fruit – a citrus plant that originated as a cross between bitter orange and citron. It is traditionally produced by cold pressing or, in some cases, steam distillation. Approximately 200 kg of fruit peel are required for one liter of this high-quality oil. The oil is characterized by its thin consistency and a greenish to yellowish color. Its origins lie primarily in Calabria in southern Italy, where the harvest takes place between November and February. Bergamot is primarily used for the extraction of its essential oil, which is also highly valued in the perfume industry.
