Witch hazel water (Hamamelis hydrolate), also known as witch hazel water, is gently extracted from the leaves and twigs of the witch hazel bush (Hamamelis virginiana) by steam distillation.
It is used as a tonic or soothing spray for skin care, particularly for oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin. Due to its astringent properties, the skin pores should be reduced, irritation and redness soothed and excess oil formation reduced.
