Bergamot oil – ideal for aromatherapy and suitable for aroma diffusers
Bergamot belongs to the citrus family and was created as a cross between lime or citron and bitter orange. The fruit is hardly used. Only the shell from which the valuable oil is extracted is used. During the flowering period, the plant is characterized by its pleasant smelling scent and the white flowers. The typical harvest time for bergamot is between November and February. The main growing area is Calabria in the south of Italy. The best quality essential oil also comes from here. The high-quality oil known as “green gold” is largely used in the perfume industry. A small portion is used to flavor the popular Earl Gray tea.How is bergamot oil made?
Bergamot oil is produced using pressing and steam distillation. Depending on the plant, the oil obtained is green to yellowish and is characterized by its thin consistency. To obtain one liter of the essential oil, 200 kg of bergamot peels are required. Bergamot has a spicy character and is a symbiosis of fresh and fruity aromas.Effects of bergamot oil
