Eucalyptus trees can be commonly found in Australia, America and the Mediterranean. They belong to the family of the Myrtle. There are more than 600 species of eucalyptus that produce different types of essential oils.
Eucalyptol, also known as 1,8-cineole, is known for its refreshing effects and makes eucalyptus oil a proven remedy for coughs, colds and common colds. It stimulates the body’s own cleansing power of the mucous membranes, acts secretolytically (expectorant), stimulates the discharge, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and decongestant and thus improves the free breathing. It is used for influenza infections and sinus infections.
